Extreme STEAM Science Center
Developing your mind for the future through STEAM
Park Shore’s state-of-the-art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, Mathematics)Science Center is filled with exciting laboratory equipment, animals from around the world, and everything that is necessary to stimulate and educate the minds of our budding scientists. By conducting scientific experiments, the children will develop skills such as predicting outcomes and drawing conclusions through observation, interpretation, and verbal communication. At Park Shore, we believe that the key to learning is having fun and our science program is no exception. Our goal is to create excitement and wonder for the world of science and to combine this with our student’s natural curiosity of the world around them in order to encourage exploration and discovery.
Our science program integrates science, technology, engineering, and the arts and math. These are the core subjects that make up a STEAM education and are of the utmost importance to our children right now. In order to keep our children on the cutting edge in STEAM subjects, exposure, and experience in these areas at a younger age is crucial. Building and creating things such as robots and rockets encourages children to become creative thinkers and problem solvers. This could lead to more scientists and innovators, for which there is a tremendous need. But STEAM is about so much more than that. It is important because it penetrates every aspect of our lives. Science includes everything in our natural world while technology is so important for the age in which our students are growing up. Engineering creates so many things on both a large and small scale and we encounter math every day wherever we go. STEAM is our children’s future!
We are confident that these skills will add to our student’s future success in learning and developing into well rounded productive adults.
State-of-the-Art STEAM Science Center features:
- High-end interactive experiments
- Robotics, Engineering, Life Science, Physical Science & Coding
- Hands-on marine touch tank
- Aquariums with fish and reptiles
The understanding of alternative ways of growing our food is an important lesson for the future of our boys and girls. Our all NEW hydroponic grow lab will enable all of our boys and girls to learn about this alternative way of growing our food with hands-on experiences. They will be able to experience how the water moves through the hydroponic system as they keep track of the plants they maintain.
NEW Community Garden
Our students will begin their journey by planting seeds in the winter. As they watch them grow and nourish them we will plant them in our community garden in the spring. They will learn how to garden and take care of our plants and see how we can get food from a simple seed! Tomatoes, zucchini, string beans, and many more plants will enable our boys and girls to work together to create a productive garden.
Technology in Teaching and Learning
The Park Shore Computer Program uses technology to enrich classroom learning by bringing interactive, multi-dimensional, and creative learning experiences to your child. Park Shore has a vast amount of iPads, Laptops, and Desktop Computers and was one of the first preschools and kindergartens to use SMART Board/Touch Screen technology. Our Computer Program introduces your child to the basic skills needed to use a computer and is designed in tandem with the school curriculum to support and enrich the skills taught within the classroom. Supervised instruction provides one-on-one guidance for use of age-appropriate programs and Internet experiences both within the Computer Lab, as well as in the classroom. We offer the opportunity for your child to work with a partner or independently to reinforce computer skills already learned. This innovative and motivational approach to learning helps stimulate young minds by offering a wide range of virtual experiences. Your child will gain valuable technical skills which will enable them to succeed in their future academic journey.
Music & Art
Finding each student’s creative talents
Music is a fundamental and essential component of our curriculum. Our Music program supports the curriculum that the children are learning in the classroom. Children who are introduced to music do better in reading, math, and science. Music helps develop reasoning skills and cognitive development. Our students are introduced to instruments, different styles of music, and thematic fingerplays, all of which enhance their large motor and listening skills. Children who grow up learning music, singing songs, and moving to the beat are what experts call “a rich sensory environment.” Our Music Program promotes our introduction to Spanish and Sign Language. Recent studies support the theory that there is a connection between music and memory. Music engages the child’s mind, senses, imagination, critical thinking, and language enhancement. When music is combined in educational activities, the whole child is engaged in the realm of thinking, as well as social, emotional, creative, and physical development. Music in Preschool and Kindergarten is the best way to expand musical horizons and abilities.
Art Experiences, Dramatics, and Free Play are a very exciting part of your child’s daily experience at Park Shore. Through various art media, your child will be encouraged to express his/her own artistic creativity. Creativity, imagination, and self-confidence are all reinforced when your child play acts in his/her classroom, music room, or on our outdoor stage. These experiences are an integral part of play, which is an ongoing process throughout the school year. Creativity builds self-confidence, self-esteem, and vocabulary in a fun and safe environment. Our Arts Program will enable your child to build skills, as well as give them the confidence to attempt new ventures in a variety of environments.
NEW Art Studio
Our new outdoor art studio will be used on a regular basis. All of our boys and girls will be able to create their own masterpieces on large easels while enjoying the outdoors.
Park Shore’s newly enhanced Physical Fitness Program is second to none. Healthy bodies are as important as healthy minds. A child’s physical development through sports, movement, aerobics, and exercise helps to enhance their total growth. Our Gym Program provides skill-building, developmental independence, and confidence for a variety of sports that they will engage in throughout their school education. Physical development, camaraderie, fun, and learning are the core of our Physical Education Program at Park Shore.
