September 2019 News from Miss Dianne

Welcome October!

Dear Park Shore Families,

It feels like the school year has just begun and now we are entering October. This month we have so much fun and exciting activities planned for our students. The Dix Hills Fire Department will be here for Fire Prevention Week.  Skilled Volunteer Firefighters will be here to show and tell our students what to do just in case of an emergency. We will all learn life skills like stop, drop and roll, 911, and the importance of changing our batteries in all our Smoke and Carbon Dioxide Detectors. A very important lesson to learn for every child big or small. We will also be taking a ride on the Park Shore Train and head on down to our very own “Pumpkin Patch”.  Each child will get to pick just the right pumpkin for themselves. We will also dissect a pumpkin and see what’s inside as well as learn about all the yummy foods that we can make using pumpkins.

October would not be spectacular without our annual Spooktackular. Mark your calendars for the 19th to make sure you come and see all the new and exciting surprises we have for the summer of 2020. Park shore is very excited to announce that we have partnered with the National Circus Project, the Red Bulls Soccer team and the Long Island Jr. Ducks for the summer of 2020 and will be joining us on the 19th as well.

Our students will also have a special parade and sing along with Miss Taneisha. Each class will be making their own spooky hats to help celebrate this exciting event. We will take a spooky walk, dance like skeletons and help Miss Taneisha make “Witches Brew”. (A favorite of mine.)  We will all have a special Halloween snack and have additional ghoulish activities in our classroom.

October 21st will also be the start of our after school Academic Adventures. These programs are designed to enhance and educate our students in all areas of different academic interests. These programs are taught by our own teachers and the curriculum is very exciting and educational.  Academic Adventures is a great way to give extra enrichment for your child’s specific interests.

I am very humbled to be able to watch your children enjoy all these activities and adventures. Our website is up and all our pictures are available for you to view.  I hope you enjoy them and get a peek into the inside of your child’s class and the special happenings that surround them.
